Introduction

Pharmacy is well established, well recognized and a very important discipline of health sciences. Pharmacy along with medicine and nursing forms the backbone of our national healthcare system. The College is recognized by the Pharmacy Council of Pakistan and Punjab Pharmacy Council Lahore is the examination body for the students of Pharmacy Technician / Diploma in Pharmacy. After the successful completion of diploma course students are registered with Punjab Pharmacy Council in registered B and awarded a certificate called Category B necessary for the licence of medical store. Pharmacy Technicians expected to serve local community and have direct interaction with population and decline the curse of Quackery. Salient feature of diploma program:

Punjab Council of Pakistan

Pharmacy Council of Pakistan is a professional body responsible for the registration of pharmacists and promotion of pharmacy education in the country. The Pharmacy Council of Pakistan (PCP) is the regulator established in terms of the Pharmacy Act, 1967 to regulate pharmacists, pharmacy education, support personnel and pharmacy premises in Pakistan. PCP mandate is to protect, promote and maintain the health, safety and well being of patients and the public who use pharmaceutical services in Pakistan.
There are 4 sub council of Pharmacy Council of Pakistan namely
1. Punjab Pharmacy Council.
2. Sindh Pharmacy Council.
3. KPK Pharmacy Council.
4. Balochistan Pharmacy Council.
As all Campuses of Kings College are present in Punjab province so examination body of Kings College students of Diploma in pharmacy is Punjab Pharmacy Council Lahore. Pharmacy is the fastest growing, dynamic profession offering a wealth of opportunities. Many occupations offer to improve society’s quality of life, the profession of pharmacy involves the preservation of life itself. While serving the society, a secure professional future is reasonably guaranteed with the satisfaction of personal accomplishment. Punjab Pharmacy Council is a Autonomous Statuary body functioning under Federal Legislation (Pharmacy Act, 1967). Punjab Pharmacy Council, established under Pharmacy Act 1967 as amended in 1973, with the crystal clear objective to regulate the practice of pharmacy. The Secretary Health Government of the Punjab acts as President (Ex-officio) while the secretary, bears the office of Punjab Pharmacy Council to execute and exercise all the legislative functions (Section-23 of the Pharmacy Act, 1967) as;

Responsibilities

  1. Registration and renewal of Pharmacist (Register-A)
  2. Enrollment of pharmacy apprentices (Register-C) (Discontinued)
  3. Examination and registration of Pharmacy Assistant (Register-B)
  4. Examination & registration of Pharmacy Technician (Register-B)
  5. Prepare and maintain registers of:
  6. Graduate/Post graduate Pharmacist
  7. Apprentices in Pharmacy
  8. Pharmacy assistant & Pharmacy Technician
  9. Issuance of Good standing certificate
  10. Verification of certificate
    Publication of text books of pharmacy for pharmacy assistant and
    technician as per the approved curriculum.
  11. On the job training of Pharmacists/Drug inspectors
  12. Refresher course for qualified Dispensers/Chemists.
  13. Inspect institutions (in coordination with central council) imparting
    pharmacy education to ensure standardized education and training.
  14. To do such other act and things as it may be empowered or required
    to do by the pharmacy act, 1967.
